The British Academy Mid Career Fellowship 2027 (Funded)

Applications are invited to apply for the British Academy Mid-Career Fellowship 2027. International applicants are encouraged to apply for this prestigious fellowship opportunity. The program is designed to support outstanding mid-career researchers who have strong and innovative research projects in the humanities and social sciences.

The Mid-Career Fellowships aim to help talented academics advance significant individual research while also promoting greater public understanding and engagement with the humanities and social sciences. Awards are based on the quality and importance of the proposed research project, as well as the applicant’s ability to communicate their work effectively to a broad range of audiences.

This fellowship provides an excellent opportunity for established researchers to develop ambitious research projects, strengthen their academic careers, and increase the wider impact of their work.

The British Academy Mid-Career Fellowship is designed to support established UK-based academics in the humanities and social sciences who want to undertake a substantial research project and increase the public impact of their work.

The main purpose of the fellowship is to release successful applicants from their regular teaching and administrative responsibilities for a period of 6 to 12 months. This allows fellows to focus fully on completing significant research while also developing a strong strategy for public engagement and communication.

Applicants are expected to demonstrate not only the academic quality of their proposed research but also a clear commitment to sharing their findings with wider audiences. The fellowship therefore supports both academic advancement and public understanding of research in the humanities and social sciences.

This opportunity is particularly suitable for mid-career academics who have already made meaningful contributions to their field and are ready to undertake an ambitious research project with broader academic and public impact.
