Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be a master’s student at Leipzig University or TU Dresden, either now or in the future.
- Study in a field linked to AI that is related to SECAI research areas
- Exhibit outstanding academic achievement
- Typically have a converted German GPA of at least 1.7.
- If you haven’t enrolled yet, submit separate applications for scholarships and university entrance.
- Crucially, candidates can apply for the scholarship and their preferred master’s program at the same time. Both procedures continue to function independently.
- After completing the Grundstudium phase, students enrolled in German Diploma programs may also be eligible.
One of the SECAI scholarship’s main features is its emphasis on interdisciplinary AI studies. Students with the following backgrounds may also be eligible if their electives, thesis work, or research concentration is AI-related:
- Computer Science Master’s or Diploma Programs
- LL.M. programs focused on AI and data law.
- Social sciences and humanities programs that investigate the societal elements of AI
- Psychology programs that specialize in socio-technical systems and human-machine interaction.
- Engineering and computational sciences are linked to AI applications.
- Medical and healthcare informatics programs
- This expanded definition of AI eligibility makes the award especially appealing to applicants whose research combines AI with ethics, healthcare, politics, human behavior, or advanced simulations.
