The Yenching Global Symposium (YGS) is a highly regarded annual event hosted by the Yenching Academy, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds who share an interest in China. The 2025 conference will take place in April and center around the theme “Humanity: Cartographies of Collaboration.” It will include renowned international experts and talented young professionals from different fields, creating a platform for meaningful dialogue on key topics related to China and global issues. Participants will also benefit from insightful talks and interactive sessions, making it an excellent opportunity for learning and idea exchange.

The Yenching Global Symposium Conference 2026 is a Fully Funded International Conference in Beijing & the Selected Students will receive the Following Funding.

As China’s interaction with the wider international community continues to develop, the two will need to redefine approaches to the world’s long-term sustainability challenges.

Sino-Sustainability: Reimagining Global Solutions will explore how China’s experiences could impact the rest of the world by examining China’s approaches in fulfilling demand, allocating resources, and pursuing longevity.

In tackling the broader theme of sustainability in a Chinese and global context, the symposium is organized into three subthemes, bringing together intersectional perspectives across the dimensions of:

  • Geographical Affinity
  • Cultural Affinity
  • Human Affinity

Note: Any Nationality with Any Educational Backgrounds is Eligible to Apply.

  • Born after April 11, 1995
  • Possesses a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in any field at the time of application
  • Will commit themselves to the entirety of the symposium, April 16-19, 2026
  • Is proficient in English
  • Has never attended any of the previous Yenching Global Symposiums or Yenching Social Innovation Forums.
  • Please save your responses on a word document for your reference. Drafts will not be saved. Please submit the full application when all responses are filled.
  • Your responses should be a maximum of 300 words (for each essay response).
  • Incomplete and/or late applications will not be accepted.
  • If English is not your first language or you have not graduated from an English-taught program, please provide a description of your English proficiency (minimum IELTS 7/TOEFL 100/Cambridge 180/CEFR C1). Screenshots are accepted.
  • YGS is fully funded (your airfare, accommodation, and meals are covered by the symposium organizers). If you receive any emails or communications asking for payment following your application, it is a scam.
  • Please be aware that YGS is unable to issue invitation letters containing barcodes for visa purposes. Please take note of this when applying for your tourist visa to China.
