UNESCO China Fellowship 2026 (Fully Funded)

Applications are now open for the UNESCO China Fellowship 2026 in China. Candidates from Africa, the Asia-Pacific region, Latin America, Europe, and the Arab world are eligible to apply. The program does not charge any application fee, and the academic session will begin in September 2026. A total of 27 fellowship positions are available for qualified students and researchers.

UNESCO works to promote humanity and encourage international cooperation for a better future. In collaboration with the Government of the People’s Republic of China, UNESCO will jointly sponsor seventy-five (75) fellowships for advanced studies at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels for the academic year 2025–2026. This initiative aims to strengthen human resource development and capacity building in developing countries while enhancing international cooperation in education, culture, communication, science, technology, and global friendship.

The UNESCO China Fellowship 2026 is a fully funded program jointly supported by UNESCO and the Government of China, officially known as the UNESCO/China Co-Sponsored Fellowships Programme. The fellowship is designed to provide selected candidates with the opportunity to pursue a master’s or doctoral degree at Chinese universities or to carry out independent research in China under the guidance of appointed supervisors. This comprehensive scholarship covers all major costs and reflects the shared commitment of UNESCO and China to academic excellence and global development.

  • Applicants for General Scholarships must be under 45 years old and hold a high school diploma.
  • Candidates for senior scholarships must be under 50 years old and possess a master’s degree or an equivalent academic position.
  • Proficiency in English is necessary.
  • Candidates for master’s degrees must be under 35 years old and hold a bachelor’s degree.
  • Doctoral candidates must be under 40 years old and hold a master’s degree.
