HZB International Summer Program 2026 for International Students
Applications are open for the HZB International Summer Program 2026 in Germany. Students from all around the world are eligible to apply for this fully funded opportunity. Each year, twenty bachelor’s and master’s students collaborate with HZB scientists on research projects during the summer program in Germany. Additionally, there is no requirement to submit IELTS scores for this program.
The HZB Summer Program 2026 is a fully funded eight-week research opportunity that will take place in Berlin from July 6 to August 28, 2026, across the HZB campuses. During this program, fellows will work closely with HZB experts on their individual research projects. The HZB International Summer Student Program (ISSP) welcomes applicants from all over the world, and there is no application fee required.
Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB) is a leading research institute focused on energy, materials, and various scientific disciplines. It is part of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers, one of Germany’s largest scientific organizations. The institute’s work centers on solar cell technologies, as well as the study of material structures and dynamics, providing participants with valuable practical experience in advanced scientific research.

Eligibility Criteria
In order to be considered for the HZB International Summer Program 2026 in Germany (Fully Funded), students must:
- All students from all countries are welcome to apply.
- Both EU and non-EU students are eligible to apply.
- Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, Structural Biology, Mathematics, Engineering, Life Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or a similar area must be your current undergraduate course of study.
- You ought to have finished at least two years of full-time university coursework.
- For the duration of the program, you must be able to fully engage.
- Applicants must have good communication skills in English.
- A recommendation letter from a researcher or professor who is acquainted with your academic work is required.
